What We Are
SIETAR Metro NY is a membership organization whose professional members are committed to improving communication and understanding in an increasingly globalized, multicultural world, by:
- Promoting respect among people of different cultures
- Facilitating exchange of information, knowledge and expertise
- Enhancing awareness of domestic and global cultural issues
- Providing a forum for intercultural specialists to network

History
SIETAR Metro New York has been in existence since 1997. We serve interculturalists from New York City and the surrounding metro area and each year offer five events to our members.
SIETAR Metro New York is a part of a global network of over 3,000 members in Europe, Africa, the Americas and Asia. Members connect by attending conferences at home and abroad, by networking, and by sharing information and resources.
SIETAR holds Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) status with the United Nations and the Council of Europe.
Who Our Members Are
We have members from Japan, Italy, Germany, the UK, China and the USA. We come from different professional backgrounds -business and industry, consulting, training, education - and much of our work is involved with the challenges
overcoming communication and cultural barriers that are both face to face, as well as increasingly, virtual.
